L' ISO (International Organization for Standardization) ha promosso da diversi
anni lo sviluppo di normative che indirizzassero ad una efficace ed effettiva
protezione ambientale mantenendo, comunque, elevati standards qualitativi
nella produzione industriale e, contemporaneamente, una significativa riduzione
degli sprechi e degli inutili sfruttamenti delle risorse naturali.A livello
internazionale l'ISO ha predisposto una serie di normative (ISO 14000),
a cui le organizzazioni possono aderire in maniera volontaria e il cui scopo
è quello di regolamentare ed implementare il funzionamento di una
azienda, affinché si possa integrare armonicamente con il "sistema
ambiente". Le normative ISO 14000 possono essere definite dei modelli
che descrivono prescrizioni per Sistemi di Gestione Ambientale.
