 In Italy, the construction equipment industry is represented by UCoMESA Starting from 1951 UCoMESA- constituted within ANIMA has gathered the adhesion of the most qualified and prestigious Italian companies operating in the field of construction and public works machinery. Member-companies are classified and operate within UCoMESA in accordance with the following product groups: - Excavation, drilling, boring and piling machinery and plant - Crushing, grinding, screening, classifying, washing, machinery and plant - Concrete machinery and plant - Cranes - Road machinery and plant - Other construction equipment: precasting, building materials production, material testing, ect. UCoMESA's aim is to co-ordinate member companies objectives and mutual needs, making the most of their experience and resources by promoting, facilitating and improving designing, production and trading activities both on the standard-technical level and economic level. In the technical field UCoMESA carries out initiatives which aim at supporting member-companies whereas quality and safety of the products are involved. The association participates with its own delegates in CEN (European Committee for standardization) Technical Committees charges with the drawing up of safety standards for different types of the machines. In the economical field UCoMESA carries out statistical surveys monitoring the trendof the Italian construction equipment industry. The Association has constantly been giving special attention to export and promotion problems, in order to help Italian Manufacturers in strengthening the position gained on foreign markets and in increasing their export quota. The promotional activities of UCoMESA is based mainly on the sponsoring and organization of exhibitions, conferences, symposia, ect. In Italy and abroad. UCoMESA is member of CECE-Committee for European Construction Equipment, which carries out programmes on problems of common interest, whether on a general or more sectorial basis, with the aim of mediating and harmonizing results and objectives at European level.
