ENERGY SECTOR

ACISM, Italian Association of gas, fuel and water meter manufacturers, was established in 1991 and has been operating within ANIMA (Federation of the Italian Associations of Mechanical and Engineering Industries) from 1997.
ACISM groups 18 companies which are classified and operate within the Association according to the following product groups:
- gas meters
- water meters
- fuel dispensers
- electronic volume correctors

ACISM aims at studying and solving the sectorial problems and at supporting member-companies in their activities, targeting top quality.
To-day, the sector is facing some problems coming from the inadequacy and the obsolescence of the laws still in force in Italy, such as the royal decreet dating back to 1890 which certainly does not meet the needs of modern times, claming the cosumers protection, as well as those of the EU market.
Therefore ACISM committed itself to establish contacts with the involved public authorities - in particular with the Ministry of Industy, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of the Interior- and to put forward proposals aiming at solving problems in co-operation with the ministerial experts.

Thanks to the efforts made by the Association the public bodies has became well aware of the problems of manufacturers and this has fostered the drawing up of draft decrees putting into effect the laws still unapplied. Beside being committed to solve urgent technical-legislative problems, ACISM plays an active part in other fields by carrying out initiatives concerning:
- economic analysis
- technical standards
- professional training
- promotion
- fairs
